He eventually ran for the Senate
If the race for the Republican presidential nomination was a circus (and there are many who argue that this is not a terrible description), this is the time when the public can not believe how many people are coming out of that little clown car.
Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore is the latest candidate to declare his intention to seek the Republican nomination for president in 2016, becoming the 17th serious contender to seek the Republican nomination to run the country.
This is not the first race for the White House Gilmore.
He announced his candidacy for the 2008 Republican Party nomination and while it occurred far below the dropout rate in July 2007.
He eventually ran for the Senate in 2008 instead in his home state of Virginia, but lost the decisive run.
